The new iMac with M4 chip is in the starting blocks and is already eagerly awaited. On Friday the time has come and Apple's all-in-one desktop computer will officially hit stores and reach the first customers. The first reports and reviews from the media have already appeared, giving us a closer look at the innovations and performance of the iMac M4.

The iMac has been a staple in Apple's product range for years and impresses with its minimalist design combined with powerful hardware. Apple has made some interesting adjustments to the latest generation of the iMac, which have already received a positive response. The first test reports and assessments from experts give you a comprehensive overview of the new functions and show which features could be particularly valuable for you in everyday life.

Nano-Texture Display: An Anti-Glare Experience

One of the highlights of the new iMac generation is the Nano Texture Display, which is now available for the first time for this desktop. For an additional charge of 230 euros, the iMac can be equipped with this and thus offers an excellent way to reduce annoying reflections. The test reports speak for themselves: The matte display is impressive, especially in bright environments. Jason Snell from Six Colors describes the experience as "magical" as reflections at the edge of the screen stop and the screen remains virtually glare-free. This nano-texture ensures that the screen is easy to read even in changing lighting conditions without affecting the viewing experience.

Matt Elliott from CNET tested the display in various lighting environments and confirmed that it is particularly effective in direct sunlight or under artificial lighting. If you use your iMac in a room with normal lighting conditions, the Nano Texture display will be less crucial. But for workstations set up in bright rooms or near windows, this feature proves to be a useful upgrade.

M4 chip: More power and speed

Another key topic in the first test reports is the new M4 chip that powers Apple's latest desktop generation. The 10-core chip provides a significant leap in performance and significantly outperforms its predecessor, the M3 chip, in benchmarks. Geekbench results show that the iMac M4 achieves an average score of 14,512 in multi-core CPU performance - an increase of around 25% compared to the iMac M3. This performance boost enables you to handle demanding applications such as video editing or graphics-intensive tasks smoothly. The first testers are enthusiastic about how efficiently the M4 chip works even under heavy load. With this performance, the iMac is aimed at users who rely on fast processing times and do not want to compromise on speed. Thanks to this hardware improvement, the iMac remains a reliable choice for professional creatives who rely on performance and efficiency.

Center Stage Camera and Desk View: Smart Video Function

The front camera on the iMac has also received an important upgrade. For the first time, it is equipped with Apple's Center Stage technology, which ensures that you always remain in the frame during a video call. Center Stage automatically adjusts the image section to your movements - a feature that was already a hit with the Studio Display and has now reached the iMac. David Phelan from Forbes describes the Desk View function as particularly useful if, for example, you want to show your physical workplace. This allows you to present the desk and your screen content at the same time without having to reposition the camera. Roman Loyola from Macworld praises the significantly improved 12-megapixel front camera, which stands out from the previous 1080p FaceTime camera. This camera not only offers you a higher resolution but also enables clearer and more professional image quality for video conferences. This upgrade is particularly attractive for home offices and professional meetings, as Center Stage and Desk View allow for a more versatile presentation.

Improved connectivity and new USB-C accessories

Apple has also revised and expanded the iMac's connectivity options. For the first time since the Intel-based iMac models, the M4 iMac supports the connection of up to two external displays. In addition, the four USB-C ports on the high-end configurations now have Thunderbolt 4, which offers fast data transfer and greater flexibility. Another detail mentioned in the first reviews is the switch to USB-C for accessories. Both the Magic Mouse and the Magic Keyboard now have USB-C ports instead of the previous Lightning ports. This change fits in with Apple's general switch to the USB-C standard and ensures a more consistent charging experience that gives you more flexibility and compatibility with other devices.

iMac M4 impresses in first tests: Performance and functions in focus

The first test reports on the iMac M4 paint a positive picture and underline the successful further development of Apple's all-in-one desktop. The nano-texture display in particular stands out as an option for demanding work environments, while the M4 chip offers a strong increase in performance that has proven itself in benchmarks and everyday tests. The new Center Stage camera and the Desk View function are also significant improvements that make the iMac even more attractive, especially for home offices and professional meetings. With the expanded connection options and the new USB-C accessories, you get an all-in-one desktop that is state-of-the-art in terms of both design and technological features. Whether you use the iMac for creative projects, business meetings or everyday life - with the M4 iMac you get a modern and powerful device that meets the demands of today's digital working world.
