Amazon introduces new Echo models

Amazon presented many new products yesterday evening - including the Echo Buds - a potential competitor to AirPods. But there are also new Echo models, among others. In addition to the new hardware, Alexa will also shine in new splendor. The smart assistant should become more useful in the future. According to Amazon, the virtual assistant will be able to warn its owners in various areas - for example when the printer cartridges or batteries in networked door locks are running low. In addition, Alexa will in future be able to use voice analysis to recognize whether the user may be frustrated and then respond to them. It will also be possible to question Alexa's mistakes - the question "Alexa, why did you do that" should be enough.

Echo Studio – the HomePod competitor

But now let’s get to Amazon’s new speakers. The rumors about a HomePod competitor have now been confirmed. Amazon has unveiled its new Echo Studio introduced. The speaker basically offers the same core functions as all other Echo models - but this device offers significantly better audio quality. This is made possible by three midrange speakers, a directional tweeter and a woofer. It says:

"Echo Studio is designed to deliver premium sound with space, clarity and depth with its five integrated directional speakers. The 5.25-inch woofer with an output of 330W delivers rich bass. The bass reflex port is located at the bottom of the cabinet to maximize airflow and output."

The Echo Studio supports 3D audio and Dolby Atmos. According to Amazon, it is the most innovative speaker the company has ever built. Another feature is room adaptation. Like the HomePod, the Echo Studio can adapt the sound to the room itself. The device costs 199 euros and is available now from Amazon. pre-ordered – it will be released on November 7th.

Of course, the original Echos have also been updated. This one is still reminiscent of its predecessor, but has a new textile design and an even better sound. The device will be available for 99.99 euros in the colors anthracite, dark blue, light gray and sandstone. However, it is doubtful whether the audio quality can keep up with the HomePod. It can be pre-ordered now - delivery starts on October 16th.

Echo Show 8

As part of the presentation, a new Echo Show 8 This has an 8-inch HD display. Like its predecessor – Echo Show 5 – it is delivered with an integrated camera shutter. Users of such a device can therefore close the built-in camera manually with a click at any time. The device costs 129.99 euros and will be delivered from November 21st – a pre-order is now possible.

Echo Dot

Fans of the Echo Dot series can also look forward to a few new features. The new version of the Echo Dot has a bright LED display that shows the time, outside temperature, timer and alarms. The model costs 69.99 euros and will be delivered from October 16th. Alternatively, there is the device without LED display in the new color purple - it will be available from November 13th. Both versions can be pre-ordered now. The Echo Glow was also introduced at the same time. This is an accessory that functions as a night lamp and can be connected to an Echo. The multi-colored intelligent lamp can be controlled with Alexa. In addition to the night light mode, the device can also display a play of colors. The Amazon Echo Glow is initially only available in the USA for around $29.99.

As part of updating existing products, the company introduced two completely new wearables. One is a pair of glasses and the other is a ring. The glasses have a microphone and a speaker to enable communication with Alexa.

However, there is no camera or display. The ring also has a small microphone and a mini speaker. The accessory requires a Bluetooth connection to a smartphone.
