Apple has introduced two new dual USB-C power adapters along with the new M2 MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models, which are unique among Apple power adapters in that they have two USB-C ports instead of one.

ChargerLAB, known for tearing down Apple devices and accessories, today released a teardown of the new Dual USB-C Power Adapter, giving us a look at the components inside. The adapter features a unique design that makes it easy to swap out the attachment to use in different regions. According to ChargerLAB, the components on the front and back of the power adapter are symmetrical. Apple offers two versions of the power adapter.

The 35W Dual USB-C Port Power Adapter looks like a regular MacBook charger while the 35W Dual USB-C Port Compact Power Adapter looks more like an iPad charger with two ports on the bottom instead of the side.

Dual USB-C power adapter: More details

ChargerLAB has taken the Compact version apart, so we don't yet know what the internal components of the "non-compact" model look like. The Dual USB-C Compact Power Adapter supports up to 35W and Power Delivery 3.0. It works with four fixed power options: 5V3A, 9V3A, 15V2.33A, and 20V1.75A. When a Mac and an iPhone or iPad are connected, each device gets up to 17.5W. The same goes for an iPhone or an iPad. When a Mac notebook or iPhone and an Apple Watch or AirPods are connected, the Mac/iPhone gets up to 27.5W and the Apple Watch or AirPods up to 7.5W. When a single device is connected, it can get the full 35W. Apple recommends the two new 35W chargers for the MacBook Air, which is due to launch in July - to the teardown video. (Image: Apple)
