Are you excited to see what Apple has next for the MacBook Pro series? The launch of the new MacBook Pro with the M4 chip is imminent, and there are some exciting developments and rumors you should know about. Below, you'll learn all about the expected features, performance improvements, and possible release dates of the new MacBook Pro M4.

Since the introduction of Apple Silicon chips, Apple has demonstrated impressive improvements in performance and efficiency with each new generation of chips. Let's take a detailed look at what we know so far about the M4 chip series and the upcoming MacBook Pro models.

M4 Update: Progress and Expectations

Apple's M4 chip, manufactured using a 3-nanometer process, promises to build on the success of its predecessor, the M3. Although the manufacturing process remains the same, improvements introduced by Apple's supplier TSMC could make the M4 chip more efficient and faster. The increased focus on artificial intelligence is particularly interesting. An improved neural engine with significantly more cores is expected, which should enable greatly improved performance for AI applications.

The new MacBook Pro models: What’s new?

  • 14-inch entry-level MacBook Pro: After discontinuing the 13-inch model, Apple has introduced the 14-inch MacBook Pro. The entry-level model is expected to include the standard M4 chip, which offers an 8-core CPU and possibly up to a 10-core GPU.
  • More powerful 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pro models: These higher-end models are expected to be equipped with the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips, which are even more powerful versions of the M4. Details on the number of cores in the CPU and GPU are not yet known, but an increase compared to the M3 Pro and Max variants is very likely.

Design and further speculation

Currently, there are no signs of an impending design overhaul of the MacBook Pro. Historically, Apple has updated the MacBook Pro design in 2012, 2016, and most recently in 2021, meaning a design change is not expected until 2025 at the earliest. Thus, this year's update will likely only include technical improvements.

launch date and availability

According to insiders, the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro could be equipped with the M4 chip in late 2024. The schedules for the launch of the 14-inch and 16-inch models are between late 2024 and early 2025. Apple could introduce the new chips at the same time or spread the releases over several months.

The MacBook Pro M4: A new era of Apple technology

The upcoming MacBook Pro M4 promises to be an exciting new entry in Apple's computing history. With improved AI capabilities, more efficient processors, and potential performance surprises, now is the perfect time to stay tuned for further announcements from Apple. Stay tuned for updates and prepare to perhaps get your hands on one of the most advanced laptops by the end of 2024. Looking for new accessories?
