Countdown to midnight. Retro style clock counting last moments before Christmas or New Year 2020.

The year 2019 was a very product-rich year for Apple – in addition to countless hardware updates, various services were also launched – we summarize.

Apple introduced a wide range of software and hardware in 2019, conquering new areas. Fortunately, the updates were spread throughout the year.

January 2019

January was, as expected, a somewhat relaxed month. In addition to software updates for iPhone, iPad & Co. (iOS 12.1.3, tvOS 12.1.2, watchOS 5.1.3 & macOS 10.14.3), the only hardware updates that were introduced were the Smart Battery Cases with Qi charging support for the iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.

February 2019

In February, Apple continued fine-tuning its software. A particularly piquant bug was fixed in iOS 12.1.4. This caused a vulnerability in Facetime closed, which made it possible to intercept contacts.

March 2019

Unlike the previous two months, Apple had a lot to offer in March. On the software side, iOS 12.2, tvOS 12.2 and watchOS 5.2 were released - as part of the Apple Watch update, the ECG feature also appeared in Germany. The AirPods 2, an iPad mini and an iPad Air were also introduced via press releases. The iMacs also received an update. But the "It's show time" keynote was also impressive. As part of the spring event, Apple focused on services. Apple Arcade, Apple TV+, Apple News+ and the Apple Card were presented. There was also some sad news, however - Apple's long-awaited AirPower charging mat was supposed to be released at that time, but the company had to abandon the project. The official statement appeared at the end of March.

April 2019

The fourth month of the year, on the other hand, was a lot more relaxed. Apple continued the beta phase of iOS 12.3 and released tvOS 12.2.1 for all users.

May 2019

While April was rather quiet, Apple made further announcements in the area of software and hardware in May. iOS 12.3, tvOS 12.3, watchOS 5.2.1 and macOS 10.14.5 released - at the same time, the new TV app was released on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Mac. Apple also presented the brand new Powerbeats Pro and a new seventh generation iPod touch and updated the MacBook Pro.

June 2019

In June, Apple hosted its annual WWDC (World Wide Developer Conference) and introduced the new operating systems - iOS 13, iPadOS 13, watchOS 6, tvOS 13 and macOS 10.15 Catalina. The new Mac Pro 2019 and the Pro Display XDR were also presented during the week-long event.

July 2019

In July, Apple once again caused hardware replenishmentHere, the company introduced a new MacBook Pro model for entry-level users and a revised MacBook Air with a True Tone display. In addition, several beta versions were released until the final versions of iOS 12.4, tvOS 12.4, watchOS 5.3 & macOS 10.14.6 and a new Texas Hold 'Em game for iOS were finally released.

August 2019

The eighth month of the year was celebrated by the Apple Card ruled. Apple's new credit card debuted in August and dominated the news for days. More data protection and more security - that's what the new payment method from Cupertino stands for. In addition to the Apple Card, iOS 12.4.1, tvOS 12.4.1, watchOS 5.3.1 & macOS Mojave 10.14.6 were also released. In the course of this, the first beta for iOS 13.1 was also rolled out, which caused a lot of confusion.

September 2019

When iPhone month arrived, there was a veritable fireworks display of products. Apple unveiled the iPhone 12 Pro Max at its September event “By Innovation Only”. iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, the Apple Watch 5 and the 7th generation of the iPad were introduced. iOS 13, iPadOS 13, watchOS 6 and tvOS 13 were also rolled out to all users. Apple's new gaming service - Apple Arcade – also debuted on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV.

October 2019

As some of you will remember, the launch of iOS 13 and Co. was a bit bumpy. Apple released a new update for iPhone and iPad almost every week. While countless bugs were fixed, new features were also added. Finally, macOS 10.15 CatalinaThe Mac operating system was finally available for download for all users. But Cupertino still had a surprise in store - the AirPods Pro and the Beats Solo Pro. There was no further keynote, however.

November 2019

While Apple continued to diligently provide updates for iPhone, iPad and Co. in November, the much-discussed streaming service Apple TV+. The critics made headlines with negative reviews, but Apple TV+ caused many fans to cheer. This was of course anything but well received by Apple's haters. Although the service initially had few titles, they were still convincing - quality instead of quantity. But that was not all. In November, Apple finally introduced another product - the MacBook Pro 16″The new professional notebook received a new keyboard technology based on the scissor technique. The new Smart Battery Case for the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max was also introduced. On the software level, there were of course new updates - in addition to new functions, further errors were fixed and stability improvements were made.

December 2019

The Christmas month, on the other hand, remained “modest”. Finally, the new Mac Pro and the Pro Display XDR on store shelves and updated all operating systems again. The Apple Music Awards were also introduced and more content was added to Apple TV+.

On the whole, 2019 was a product-rich year - but it was accompanied by a lot of rumors. There were also new iPad Pro and iPhone models, as well as small trackers - similar to the Tile product, which have not yet been introduced. There were also some leaks regarding AR devices. What will be released in which form in 2020 is still up in the air - but the fact is that an exciting year with Apple awaits us. You can find more rumors here.
