Sony today introduced the "DualShock 4 Back Button Attachment" for the PlayStation 4 controller in a press release. This can be individually configured and conveniently attached to the DualShock 4 controller.
Sony has unexpectedly released a new accessory for PlayStation 4 players. The "DualShock 4 Back Button Attachment" adds two additional buttons that can be individually configured by the user. The announcement states:
Today we're excited to introduce the DualShock 4 Back Button Attachment to gamers of all skill levels who enjoy playing competitively. This new attachment elevates your gameplay by providing more versatility and performance while maintaining the comfort and feel of the DualShock 4 wireless controller you've come to love.
The attachment contains two programmable buttons and a small OLED screen. Around 16 different actions can be set and saved here. The integrated display provides real-time information about the current button assignment.
A dedicated button allows you to remap button inputs during gameplay, so you're always prepared no matter what game you're playing. Additionally, you can save and select up to three different profiles for use in different games. There's also a 3.5mm headphone jack for any headset.
According to Sony, the product was developed specifically for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR titles, taking into account the ergonomics of the DualShock 4.
