The Apple Watch is one of the most consistent products in Apple's portfolio. Every year there are expectations for a new design, but the picture for the upcoming generation is different. Current information suggests that major visual changes are unlikely for the time being.
The assessment comes from Mark Gurman, who spoke about upcoming Apple products during a live Q&A session on Bloomberg. Besides hinting at a new full-size HomePod and a foldable iPhone that will be released later compared to the iPhone 18 Pro models, he also commented on the future of the Apple Watch.
No fundamental redesign of the Apple Watch
According to Gurman, the next Apple Watch, expected later this year, will remain largely unchanged in appearance. A completely new design is not planned. Instead, Apple is likely to stick with the familiar look and only make minor adjustments.
Many rumors, little action
In recent years, there has been recurring speculation about major changes, such as an "Apple Watch X" or new watch bands with magnetic clasps. So far, none of this has materialized. The latest statements confirm that Apple is not pursuing a radical reorientation in the short term.
Last major change: Apple Watch Ultra
The most significant design change in recent years came with the Apple Watch Ultra in 2022. Since then, both this model and the standard versions have only been further developed gradually.
Apple Watch: The big change will come later
A comprehensive redesign of the Apple Watch might not appear for at least two years. This year, however, it will remain an evolution rather than a revolution.
The Apple Watch Series 12 retains its familiar design
The upcoming Apple Watch focuses on continuity. Despite numerous rumors, the design remains largely unchanged. Those waiting for a major visual overhaul will have to wait a while longer. (Image: Shutterstock / frantic00)
