At the Apple TV Press Day event, Apple gave journalists a comprehensive preview of the upcoming series, films, and sports broadcasts coming to Apple TV in 2026. The event was less of a grand spectacle and more of a factual overview of what subscribers can expect this year. It became clear that Apple is strategically expanding its streaming service and is clearly focusing on high-quality original productions.
Part of the Press Day event took place behind closed doors. Eddy Cue, Apple's Senior Vice President of Services, held a private conversation with Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1. Simultaneously, several actors took to the stage to present their new projects. Apple also officially confirmed its sports offerings for 2026, which will continue to include Formula 1, MLB, and MLS. In addition to previously announced formats, several new series and films were presented in detail for the first time, or given specific release dates.

Positioning Apple TV in the streaming market
With its multitude of new and returning series, as well as a growing selection of films, Apple TV is no longer a niche offering. While Disney and Netflix still boast significantly larger media libraries, Apple is considered one of the strongest providers in terms of average production quality.
Apple has also managed to secure almost all of its necessary back catalogs. Fraggle Rock, Peanuts, and the non-fiction series Long Way are the exceptions. The Apple TV app is available on most modern platforms and smart TVs. The service costs €9.99 per month or is included in any Apple One subscription.
Apple TV will focus on quality over quantity in 2026
The Apple TV Press Day event provided a comprehensive overview of Apple's content strategy for 2026. New series, star-studded films, and reliable sequels to successful formats demonstrate Apple TV's consistent focus on long-term expansion. The streaming service thus continues to clearly position itself as prioritizing quality over sheer quantity. (Image: Apple)
