Apple is already working intensively on iOS 27, which is expected to be released next year. Initial information suggests a significantly larger update than previous versions. The focus will be on new artificial intelligence features that are intended to noticeably expand Apple Intelligence. A Bloomberg report now provides initial details on three new AI features that could shape iOS 27.
With iOS 26.4, a new Siri update is expected in spring 2026, already considered one of the most comprehensive upgrades to Apple's AI. iOS 27 picks up right where that left off – not just with functional improvements, but with major innovations directly aimed at everyday use. Mark Gurman, known for reliable Apple leaks, reveals in his latest newsletter the first specific AI features planned for the next major iOS update. These relate to Siri, web search, and health.
Visual redesign of Siri
Siri is set to become not only smarter with iOS 27, but also to receive a completely new look. The idea is to give Siri a visual personality that will make it appear more lifelike. Internally, Apple is currently testing various approaches, including a design based on the Finder icon. The goal is to visually enhance Siri and integrate it more seamlessly into the overall system experience.
This visual redesign is intended to be significantly different from the changes in iOS 26.4. While functionality was the focus there, iOS 27 is all about the appearance. This could allow Apple to avoid disappointing overly high expectations in the spring and instead follow up with a noticeable upgrade in the fall.
AI-powered web search tool
In addition to Siri, Apple is also working on a new AI-powered web search tool. Details are still limited, but the plan is clear: Apple wants to integrate its own intelligent search solution that provides context-aware answers. This tool is intended to function independently of existing search engines like Google and be more deeply integrated into the system. This would allow Apple to offer, for the first time, an AI-based search experience that is more personalized than traditional searches via Safari.
AI agent for health: Health+ is coming
The third innovation concerns the health sector. The Health app will be expanded with a new service called "Health+". An AI agent is planned to assist in managing and interpreting health data. This digital assistant will not only analyze data but also actively support preventative healthcare – for example, by providing tips, summaries, or recommendations based on individual values.
This could make Apple one of the first major tech companies to seriously compete in the field of AI-powered health services. Combining existing sensor data from the Apple Watch with intelligent analysis via the new agent would be a logical step to take the Health app to the next level.
More than just an update: iOS 27 as a turning point
In contrast to the relatively minor AI enhancements in iOS 26, iOS 27 appears to bring more profound changes. Siri will not only become more intelligent but also visibly redesigned. With the planned AI-powered web search, Apple is setting its own standards in the search field. And with Health+ featuring AI agents, health will become an even more central theme in the Apple ecosystem.
All of this suggests that 2026 will be a pivotal year for Apple Intelligence – with iOS 27 as a strategically important building block. The combination of a functional Siri upgrade in the spring and a visual redesign in the fall demonstrates how Apple deliberately plans the introduction of new features in stages to manage expectations and win over users in the long term.
