New attempt – Samsung Galaxy Fold to be released in September

by Milan
July 25, 2019

The time has now come – Samsung’s new folding smartphone will be launched in September – the company confirmed this on its own website.

After a truly embarrassing delay, Samsung announced the launch of its first foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Fold, for September this year. The device has undergone a redesign and is now said to be more reliable. The Korean tech giant posted a post saying the sales start would take place in September, but did not give an exact date. The original market launch was supposed to take place in April, but was canceled due to countless display problems. According to Samsung, the revised Galaxy Fold now has a special protective film that is supposed to protect the entire display from the ingress of dirt particles - and this can no longer be removed manually. Special reinforcements were added to the upper and lower hinges as part of the revision and are intended to keep particles out of sensitive areas, while additional metal layers under the Infinity Flex Display help to strengthen the mechanism.

Official launch date to follow

In addition, the distance between the hinge and the device chassis has also been reduced. The optimizations are intended to help prevent display problems. These caused devastating criticism in the spring, which is why Samsung had to postpone the market launch. The improvements announced by Samsung are in line with earlier rumors about the new design of the Galaxy Fold. An official launch date is to be announced in the coming weeks. Of course, it remains to be seen whether the revision has been successful. Amazon Echo Dot (3rd Gen.) for 19.99 euros – only for a short time (Image: Samsung)
