According to a new report, Tim Cook held a video conference with Apple's entire management team. The Apple boss appeared optimistic while rejecting layoffs.

According to a new Bloomberg report, there was a video conference between Tim Cook and the entire management team at Apple. The discussion was about the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and future planning. According to the news platform, the Apple boss was very optimistic. Bloomberg:

He said when he first joined Apple in 1998, the company responded to financial challenges by releasing the original iMac. He noted that Apple launched the first iPad in 2010 right after the Great Recession, and now the plan is to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic in a similar manner.

The current plan is to reopen the first Apple Stores in the US in May - as long as the situation allows. Deirdre O'Brien, Apple's retail chief, added that employees could return to work flexibly in certain situations. The report states:

Head of human resources and retail, Deirdre O'Brien, said the company would adjust its holiday policy for the rest of the year to compensate staff for unused days. She also explained there would be flexibility in returning to work for employees in special situations.

Apple's work on healthcare products is of great importance

Apple's COO, Jeff Williams, went on to say that Apple's work on health products is more important than ever and that the company's development in this area is focused on more than just the Apple Watch. Bloomberg writes:

During the meeting, Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams said the crisis has increased the importance of Apple's work on health products, including the Apple Watch, and that the company's development work in this area is not "limited to the wrist."

When asked whether there will be job cuts, Cook said no. At this point, he highlighted Apple's financial resources and explained that he is optimistic and wants to act for the long term. Bloomberg quoted his statement as follows:

If we continue to focus on doing what we do best, if we continue to invest, if we lead the company wisely and make decisions together, if we take care of our teams, if our teams take care of their work, I see no reason to be anything other than optimistic."

Accordingly, Apple seems to be still on track and sticking to the planned product launches this year. (Image: Apple)
