There are already plenty of reports about the next iPhone generation. But what about pictures? So far, there have only been drawings to see - but that is now changing.
The leaker Max Weinbach claims to have received CAD files that basically show the alleged iPhone 12 Pro Max. Since he has proven to be a reliable source so far, there is no doubt about its authenticity. Based on the leaked material, corresponding images and dummies were produced and published on EverythingApplePro on YouTube. The schematic drawings probably come from a Foxconn factory and were intended for partners. Since the CAD files are from January, there could still be small deviations. But on the whole, we see the next generation iPhone here. The images confirm what has long been clear - that iPhone 12 (Pro Max) will appear in the design of the iPad Pro 2018 or 2020 series. At 7.4 mm thick, the device is said to be thinner than its predecessor - iPhone 11 Pro Max 8.1 mm.
Square Camera in Transition

Thanks to the thinner edges and the smaller notch as well as the generous design, the device has a size of 6.7 inches, making it the largest iPhone Apple has ever developed. Compared to its predecessor, the casing will also have different dimensions. But let's get back to the frame. According to the CADs, this should be around 40 percent narrower than its predecessors. As part of this revision, the square camera bump was of course also changed. Although the device is thinner overall, the edge is retained. The arrangement of the lenses was also changed by integrating the LiDAR scanner. It corresponds to a previous leak, according to which images from a repair manual for the iPhone 12 Pro Max were shown. What is noticeable, however, is the larger antenna. The increase is probably due to the 5G module. But the repositioning of the SIM card slot is a little stranger.
First time with Smart Connector?
This is now found on the other side of the case. This could possibly have something to do with a rearrangement of the components inside. A detail that was already present in leaks about the iPhone 11 - perhaps a year too early? But the real oddity comes now. Where the SIM card slot used to be, there is now a smart connector - slightly smaller than the one on the iPad. But what is this good for? The answer is still unknown. Rumors that Apple is working on an iPhone Pencil have been around for several years. Of course, the smart connector could also be intended for completely different accessories. So we can only speculate at this point. All in all, four iPhone 12 models are expected, including a 5.4-inch device, two 6.1-inch models and the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The launch of the new smartphone series is expected in autumn this year. (Image: Max Weinbach & EverythingApplePro)
