Protection for stolen devices iPhone

Koszalin, Poland - November 29, 2016: Space gray iPhone X on wooden table. The iPhone X is a smart phone with multi touch screen produced by Apple Computer, Inc.

The increasing dependence on smartphones makes them an attractive target for thieves. iPhones in particular, known for their wealth of data and connectivity, are in the spotlight. Fortunately, Apple has introduced an important security feature with iOS 17.3: "Stolen Device Protection". This article explains what this feature does, why it is essential to activate it, and how to do it best.

In response to reports of a new method in which thieves are stealing iPhones and sniffing passcodes to gain access to sensitive data, Apple has developed Stolen Device Protection. This feature is a critical step in increasing the security of your device by preventing access to important features and data without biometric authentication.

What does stolen device protection do?

Stolen Device Protection in iOS 17.3 and later makes it much harder for thieves to access the password-protected data of a stolen iPhone. Here are some key features:

  • Biometric security measures: Only Face ID or Touch ID allows access to iCloud Keychain, wipe and lost mode options, and purchases in Safari.
  • Security delay: There is a one-hour delay for sensitive actions such as changing your Apple ID password, unless the device is in a trusted location.

How do I activate this feature?

To enable stolen device protection, follow these steps:

  • Make sure your iPhone has at least iOS 17.3.
  • Open the Settings app.
  • Tap “Face ID & Passcode” or “Touch ID & Passcode,” depending on your model.
  • Enter your passcode.
  • Scroll down and select Stolen Device Protection.
  • Activate the switch and confirm with “Turn on”.

Consider safety at home and on the go

If your iPhone is running iOS 17.4 or later, you can set additional security settings. You can choose whether the security delay is always required or only when the device is not in a familiar location.

Safety first: Protect your iPhone effectively

Stolen device protection is an essential security feature for every iPhone user. By enabling this feature, you not only protect your personal data but also make it more difficult for thieves to misuse it. Update your device, enable protection and make sure you have the best possible defense against smartphone theft. By enabling this important feature, you effectively secure your iPhone and preserve your privacy and security. Are you looking for new accessories?
