In a world where connectivity has become an essential part of our daily lives, sharing your Wi-Fi password with friends and family can be a simple act of hospitality. Apple has simplified this process for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch users, so you can share your Wi-Fi password quickly and securely without having to say it or write it down. This article will show you how to share your Wi-Fi password using your Apple device and what preparations you need to make.

Before we get into the actual process, it is important to understand that certain prerequisites must be met to use this feature. The devices between which the password is to be shared must meet certain software requirements and be properly configured to ensure a seamless connection. This feature is not only convenient but also increases security by eliminating the need to disclose the password.

Preparation

  • Software requirements: Make sure your device and the device you're trying to connect to have the latest version of iOS, iPadOS, or macOS installed. For iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches, this is iOS 11 or later; for Macs, macOS High Sierra or later.
  • Connection settings: Enable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on both devices. If Personal Hotspot is enabled on one of the devices, temporarily disable it.
  • iCloud login: Both users must be logged into iCloud with their Apple ID. It is also necessary that the email address associated with the Apple ID is saved in each other's contacts.
  • Device proximity: Keep the device you want to connect to close to your device, within Bluetooth and Wi-Fi reception range.

Share WiFi password

  • To connect: Make sure your device is unlocked and connected to the desired Wi-Fi network.
  • Select a network: On the device you want to connect to the network, select the appropriate Wi-Fi network.
  • Share password: The Share password option will now appear on your device. Tap it and then tap Done to complete the process.

Share Wi-Fi password via iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

Sharing your Wi-Fi password from one Apple device to another is a simple process that welcomes your guests while keeping your network secure. If you encounter any issues, restart both devices or try entering the password manually. This feature shows Apple's commitment to a seamless and user-friendly experience. By following these steps, you can ensure that your friends and family can access your Wi-Fi without unnecessary hurdles. Looking for new accessories?
