Nomad expanded its USB-C accessories at the beginning of December with new sports cables and a new 30-watt power adapter. In the meantime, I also took a look at the new accessories.

Nomad has been carrying USB-C accessories in its range for some time. When Nomad started with USB-C accessories, the company had some exciting offerings with unique materials and build quality that went beyond what most on the market had to offer. But what about today? The new accessories are still sleek, reliable and high quality. The hands-on refers to the USB-C to Lightning cable and the brand new 30W USB-C power adapter. The new sports cable comes in three different versions. There is a regular USB-C to USB-A cable, a USB-C to USB-C cable and a USB-C to Lightning cable.

Nomad USB-C Sport Cable is MFi certified

All three cables are two meters long. The Lightning cable is also fully MFi certified. Nomad's new cables are designed for high-speed charging. To keep costs as low as possible, Nomad has opted for USB 2.0 data speeds.

This means that the cables can reach a maximum of 480 Mbit/s. However, this step may not be to everyone's liking. One positive thing to mention is that the cables have a robust, nylon-coated casing. The ends are heavily rubberized, including the cable neck, which is often subjected to a lot of wear and tear and can be a problem with Apple's charging cables. Like every Nomad cable, the new ones also have an internal cable tie so that the whole thing is secured when rolled up.

30W power supply from Nomad uses GaN technology

In addition to the three charging cables, Nomad has also introduced a brand new 30W power adapter with GaN technology, which replaces the existing 20W adapter. As a reminder: Gallium nitride technology (GaN) uses fewer components overall than standard silicon chargers, which is why GaN-based power adapters require much smaller housings and can still offer a lot of power. Nomad's latest model is actually slightly larger than the 20W version from Anker. However, it offers 30W. In addition, the power adapter has a matte, two-tone plastic surface, which, unlike the white Apple adapters, appeals to fans of dark, robust versions. The problem here, however, is that the new power adapter is only intended for the USA.

This means that users in this country would also have to use an EU plug. For this reason, the adapter, as great as it is, is not intended for every EU resident. However, anyone who often travels to the USA should actually consider getting such a power adapter. After all, it is powerful and at the same time compact, a great advantage, especially when traveling. While the power adapter $29.99 The three new cables are offered for $24.95 each. The accessories can be purchased as usual in the Nomad online shop can be purchased. And again: The power pack should appeal more to US travelers. If you are looking for something for this country, you should take a look at Anker, I have attached my test article below. (Image: Nomad)
