In May, a report from Bloomberg suggested that Apple would unveil a redesigned MacBook Pro this summer. But when exactly?
Rumors about MacBook Pro devices with a brand new design have been with us for a long time. Different dates have been mentioned over time. Now Mark Gurman has spoken out in his “Power On” newsletter and explainedthat "Apple is turning its attention to the fall." The new MacBook Pro is expected to be released sometime this year. As a reminder: At the time, Gurman reported that Apple wanted to introduce a MacBook Pro with an HDMI port and an SD card slot. In addition, MagSafe technology is also expected to make a comeback. But that's not all. The new MacBook Pros are expected to be equipped with eight high-performance cores and two high-efficiency cores, which are available in either a 16- or 32-graphics core version.
MacBook Pro 2021: Interested parties still have to be patient
For the new MacBook Pros, Apple is planning two different chips, codenamed Jade C-Chop and Jade C-Die: Both contain eight high-performance cores and two energy-efficient cores, but will be offered in either 16- or 32-graphics core variants. The high-performance cores are used for more complex tasks, while the energy-efficient cores operate at lower speeds for simpler tasks such as browsing the web, thus preserving battery life. The new chips differ from the design of the M1, which has four high-performance cores, four energy-efficient cores and eight graphics cores in the current 13-inch MacBook Pro.
Now Gurman writes in his newsletter that "the next few weeks will be rather sparse in terms of new products." But new MacBook Pros are expected later this year. Even if the MacBook Pros are not released in the next few weeks, a summer debut is still possible, as summer ends in mid-September. Interestingly, however, last week leaker Dylandkt claimedthat Apple is expected to introduce the new Mac devices in late October or early November.
