Rumors about the third generation of the iPhone SE have been with us for some time. Now there are new reports that it will be introduced soon.

According to Taiwanese market research firm TrendForce, Apple plans to release a third-generation iPhone SE in the first quarter of 2022. If this timeframe holds true, we can expect the device to be released by the end of March at the latest. As has been speculated, the new iPhone SE will be TrendForce remain a mid-range smartphone with additional support for 5G:

As for product development, Apple is sticking to the plan to release the third-generation iPhone SE in the first quarter of 2022 and four models of a new series in the second half of 2022. The third-generation iPhone SE is expected to help Apple establish itself in the mid-range 5G smartphone market segment. Its production volume is estimated at 25-30 million units in 2022.

iPhone SE 2022: With 5G support and A15 chip?

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has previously claimed that the new iPhone SE will have a similar design to the current model, which is based on the iPhone 8. That means it will come with a 4.7-inch display, Touch ID in the home button and thicker bezels. Kuo said that the device's key new features will include 5G support and a faster processor - reportedly an A15 chip. There have also been rumors that Apple is working on a larger version of the iPhone SE. But that device is not expected to hit the market until 2023 or later. The original iPhone SE was released in March 2016 and discontinued in September 2018. The second-generation iPhone SE was released in April 2020 and is still being sold. The 2020 version starts at 479 euros - the maximum configuration costs around 649 euros. (Photo by hadrian / Bigstockphoto)
