According to a new report, Apple plans to eliminate the butterfly keyboard in MacBooks by the end of 2020 – starting with a completely new MacBook Pro model this fall.

The technology behind the new keyboard is based on so-called scissor switches, i.e. with a real pressure mechanism like in previous years. Despite the old technology, the design of the upcoming keyboard is said to be completely new - Apple also wants to increase the durability of the keys. Fiberglass is said to be used for this.
According to Kuo, the production of the new keyboard will still be more expensive than conventional notebook keyboards, but it should be cheaper than the unpopular butterfly keyboard. According to the analyst, Apple plans to introduce the new technology with a completely new MacBook Pro, which will have a 16-inch display. The presentation of this device is planned for this fall, according to Kuo. Apple's plan includes the complete changeover by the end of 2020 - according to which all MacBook models should have the new keyboard by then. It remains unclear whether Apple will present other notebook models in addition to the new 16-inch MacBook Pro - the presentation is likely to take place at the end of October, as every year.
