According to rumors, a brand new Apple product, a so-called mixed reality headset, will be released next year alongside the iPhone 14 series. Now there are reports again of WiFi 6E integration.

The extremely well-informed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has spoken out to investors in a new letter. In it, he addresses the iPhone 14 lineup and a head-mounted display device. Both products, he believes, will accelerate the entire industry's transition to the Wifi 6E specification. That is, by introducing Wifi 6E in these two Apple devices, competitors will be encouraged to do the same. Other upcoming head-mounted displays for augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), such as those from Meta, will also offer Wifi 6E. Kuo explained that Wifi 6E will be key to providing the high-speed wireless transmissions required for AR and VR experiences. Kuo said that head-mounted display devices will offer Wifi 6/6E, Wifi 6E/7, and Wifi 7, respectively, in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Wifi 6E: The advantages over Wifi 6

However, it remains unclear whether this information specifically relates to the product roadmap of Apple Kuo has mentioned in the past that Apple's headset will be equipped with Wifi 6E. But today's letter is the first explicit mention of the improved specification for the iPhone 14. Originally, some sources claimed that the iPhone 13 would be equipped with Wifi 6E - but this is not the case. Wifi 6E offers the features and capabilities of Wifi 6, including higher performance, lower latency and faster data rates, expanded to include the 6 GHz band. The additional spectrum offers more space than the existing 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi, resulting in more bandwidth and less interference. (Photo by World Image / Bigstockphoto)
