There are plenty of rumors about upcoming Apple products. But now things are getting more concrete. A new list shows what we can actually expect from Apple in 2020.

The well-known Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman is known for reliably revealing upcoming Apple products. He has also been right about timing very often. Now Gurman has Q&A Fragen beantwortet und Apples Roadmap “offengelegt”. Natürlich sollte es keine Überraschung sein, dass Gurman nach dem neuen iPhone 12 was asked. In his live video, he confirmed previous rumors about the upcoming 5G iPhone. According to this, the iPhone 12 series will consist of four devices: a 5.4-inch iPhone, two 6.1-inch models and a 6.7-inch iPhone. While a 6.1-inch model and the 6.7-inch version will be the flagships, the 5.4-inch and the second 6.1 device are said to be the successors to the iPhone 11 and will therefore be cheaper.

The two higher-end iPhone 12 models will receive a camera module with a LiDAR scanner. In the course of this, he does not rule out that these two versions will exclusively have a 120Hz Pro Motion display. On the subject of design, he explained that the iPhone 12 flagships will have a case similar to the iPad Pro, i.e. flat stainless steel edges. In addition, the iPhone notch will actually be smaller. This is made possible by a repositioning of the components inside. He then went on to discuss other Apple products. Below you will find a bullet point summary:

iMac, MacBook Pro, ARM Macs, HomePod Mini & Apple TV 6

  • iMac Update: The iMac is set to receive an update this year, although a design change cannot be ruled out. Rumors about a 23-inch model are therefore correct. This means that in this case it is possible that the casing will remain the same size, but the screen edges will be narrower - similar to the MacBook Pro 16-inch.
  • MacBook Pro: According to Gurman, a successor to the MacBook Pro 13-inch is planned. The device will be introduced in 14-inch form - but he did not give a date. Recent rumors suggest May. A further update of the MacBook Pro 16" model is expected in October or November.
  • ARM Macs: Reports that Apple is planning to introduce ARM-based Macs were also confirmed. However, he did not provide any exact details.
  • HomePod Mini: Apple is said to be very disappointed with the sales figures of the HomePod. That is why a dedicated team is working on a smaller version of the HomePodsThe new model is expected to be cheaper and offer significant improvements for Siri. The device will be released later this year.
  • Apple TV 6: Reports and leaks about a new Apple TV have already hinted at an update. Now Gurman has also confirmed the Apple TV 4K successor. An update is expected this year. However, the device will not have an 8K resolution.

Apple Watch Series 6, AirPower, AirTags & more

  • AirPower: Gurman also claims to have heard reports from his sources about a new attempt to develop AirPower. However, he does not know the exact details.
  • Apple Watch Series 6: As with the iPhone, an update is also expected for the Apple Watch this year. The Apple Watch Series 5 successor is scheduled to appear in the second half of the year.
  • AirTags: AirTags have long been no secret. While there have been an incredible number of software leaks, the new accessory was also accidentally leakedAccording to Gurman, Apple will introduce the new trackers as a premium product later this year. AirTags are expected to be available in small leather cases.
  • Modular high-end headphones: Apple's new over-ear headphones will be released later this year.
  • Touch ID 2.0: Apple's plans for an iPhone with under-display Touch ID should already be known. But Gurman stressed that nothing like that is to be expected this year.
  • iCar: Apple's iCar plans are still in place. However, development is focused on autonomous driving. But when exactly an announcement will be made remains to be seen.

Finally, the Bloomberg journalist noted that he had heard reports about a Xcode Version for iPhone and iPad under iOS 14 is unrealistic. But the augmented reality headset, which is currently in development, is said to be the most interesting, according to Gurman. However, a presentation is not expected this year.
