In the ever-evolving world of streaming, Apple is looking for new ways to expand its offerings on Apple TV+. One of the most exciting developments could soon become a reality: Apple is negotiating exclusive TV rights to a brand new FIFA tournament that is sure to delight fans of world football.

Interest in live sports broadcasts is growing steadily, and streaming services are eager to serve this growing market. Apple has already made significant investments in sports broadcast rights, including deals with Major League Soccer (MLS) and Major League Baseball (MLB). These new negotiations with FIFA represent another strategic step to establish Apple TV+ as the leading platform for premium sports content.

The deal with FIFA

After Report According to the New York Times, Apple is close to signing an exclusive deal with FIFA. This deal would give Apple the broadcast rights to a new tournament similar to the World Cup, with the best teams competing against each other. The negotiations come as FIFA plans to host this new month-long tournament in the United States as early as next summer.

investment and return

The cost to Apple could be around $1 billion. It is still unclear whether there will also be free-to-air TV rights or if the tournament will be available exclusively on Apple TV+. This could make the platform even more attractive to sports fans willing to pay for high-profile live events.

Apple TV+ and sports streaming

Apple TV+ has already secured the global broadcast rights to MLS, which cost the company $2.5 billion. Those games, including the League Cup, are already a regular feature on Apple TV+. Additionally, Apple remains in talks to secure streaming rights to NBA games after failing to reach an agreement on NFL Sunday Ticket.

The new Apple Sports app

Earlier this year, Apple also launched its own sports app in the US called Apple Sports. This app allows users to follow scores and stats of their favorite teams in real time and can be synced with the My Sports app on Apple TV, providing a seamless experience for sports fans.

The new FIFA tournament and Apple's role in global sports streaming

Apple's efforts to secure the rights to the new FIFA tournament are a clear sign that the company is serious about making Apple TV+ a must-have service for sports lovers around the world. If the negotiations are successful, it could not only change the landscape of sports streaming but also the way fans around the world experience their favorite games. This strengthens Apple's position in the competition among streaming services and could open a new chapter in the world of digital sports. (Photo by DenPhoto / Bigstockphoto)
