Rumors about upcoming Apple products with MiniLED technology have been around since 2018. Now a new forecast about the imminent switch has been published.

The well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has already published a forecast that mass production for corresponding components should start at the end of 2020 or the beginning of 2021. Now the analyst Jeff Pu has spoken out. (via MacRumors) According to his forecast, Apple plans to introduce an iPad Pro 12.9-inch with a miniLED display in the first quarter of 2021, followed by a MacBook Pro 16″ in the second quarter of next year. Pu also expects the launch of an iMac 27″ with a miniLED screen in the second half of 2021.

MiniLEDs are better than OLED panels

The specified period is Kuos earlier statements. It cannot be ruled out that Apple will switch almost all of its products to MiniLED technology next year. In addition to the devices mentioned above, 10.2- and 7.9-inch iPad models are also expected to follow. According to the two analysts, the switch to MiniLED displays would enable thinner and lighter product designs. In addition, the new screen technology has the same advantages as OLEDs, with even better values. Apart from that, MiniLEDs are more reliable because they cannot burn in. Whether the two will be right in the end remains to be seen, of course, as always. (Image: Apple)
