WhatsApp has added numerous new features in 2021. The first major feature of the year is due to follow soon. To be precise, the app will add your contacts' profile photos to the notifications when someone sends you a message, just like Telegram, for example.
Like WABetaInfo found out , the feature is already being rolled out to iOS beta testers, provided they are using iOS 15 and version 2.22.1.1 of the app. With profile photos in notifications, WhatsApp is following a trend that other apps such as Twitter have already implemented. Every time you receive a new WhatsApp notification, the contact's name and profile picture are displayed. WABetaInfo points out that this feature is not yet available to all beta testers at the moment. The publication says that even those who can use this feature may have problems because it is still in beta phase. At the end of last year, WhatsApp started testing many new features that will be integrated into the app later this year.
WhatsApp: Many innovations planned for 2022
In addition to a new community feature that gives group administrators more control over groups in the app, WhatsApp is preparing to add recipient editing, filtering for nearby businesses, and a redesigned contacts page. For example, when sending media in WhatsApp chat, you'll be able to select different recipients. Another feature is the new "Nearby Shops" section. This feature lets you search for nearby businesses, such as restaurants, grocery stores, clothing stores, and more. Finally, WhatsApp will introduce a redesigned contact info. It will look similar to the new business information interface but will include a search shortcut. All three features are under development and are currently unavailable to public beta testers.
