macOS Catalina will be available as a free software update for Macs this fall – we'll show you which devices are compatible with the new operating system.
All Mac devices introduced in mid-2012 or later are compatible with macOS 10.15 Catalina. This means that the following models can update and install the new macOS 10.15:
MacBook 12″
MacBook Air, 2012 and later
MacBook Pro, 2012 and later
Mac mini, 2012 and later
iMac, 2012 and later
iMac Pro
Mac Pro, 2013 and later
In this sense, almost all Macs that were able to upgrade to Mojave are also compatible with Catalina. macOS Catalina offers new Music, Podcast, and TV apps, updates to the Photos interface, a brand-new Reminders app, an expanded desktop in Safari, updates to Markdown, Screen Time on macOS, and the new "Find My" app. Everything about You can find macOS 10.15 Catalina here.
