Fans of the Apple TV series Pluribus are eagerly awaiting the second season – and now there's a sign of life directly from the show's creator. Vince Gilligan revealed in an interview how far along work on the new episodes is. It won't be a quick process, but apparently a carefully considered one.
Pluribus is one of Apple TV's recent hit series and even won a Gotham Award. Accordingly, there's a great deal of interest in a sequel. While the first season has long since wrapped, it remained unclear how far along the second season actually was – until series creator Vince Gilligan himself addressed the issue.
A little over halfway done
In an interview with the industry magazine Deadline, Gilligan explained that work on season 2 is well over halfway through. He and his writing team have already fleshed out the individual episodes. As with all his series, the beginning was tough, but things have come together over time. Now he's looking forward to filming the episodes and showing them to the audience.
Tell-tale hints from an actor's conversation
The reason for the inquiry was a conversation a few days earlier. Lead actress Rhea Seehorn, known from "Better Call Saul," met with Bryan Cranston from "Breaking Bad" for Variety magazine's "Actors on Actors" series. When Cranston asked how long the filming of the first season had taken, Seehorn answered visibly hesitantly with ten to eleven months. She also remained conspicuously vague when asked how many shooting days were allocated to each episode. In the video, she seems unsure whether she was even allowed to reveal these details and begins to remark that many people don't understand Gilligan's working methods—but then breaks off.
Even Season 1 took a while to arrive
The reserved responses fit the image of a production that deliberately takes its time. The first season of Pluribus ran from November 7th to December 24th, 2025 – more than three years after the series was first announced. Apple TV had ordered two seasons from the outset, thus guaranteeing a continuation from the start. The service has recently earned a reputation for high-quality original productions and even scored higher than Netflix in a quality ranking.
Pluribus is coming – but without haste
For some viewers, the announcement was a slight disappointment, as some had expected the project to be further along – which might explain Seehorn's reticence in retrospect. On the other hand, Gilligan's account shows that he doesn't want to rush the series back to screens. A concrete release date for the second season has not yet been announced. (Image: Apple)
