There was speculation for a long time - now it's official. The Nintendo Switch Lite was introduced today. You can find out what the new handheld console can do and when it will be available below.
It's called Nintendo Switch Lite - as the name suggests, Nintendo's new gaming device is a special version of the Nintendo Switch released in 2017. The design is reminiscent of its big sister - but a few features are missing. For example, the Nintendo Switch Lite can only be used in handheld mode - that is, it comes without a TV connection. In addition to the lack of a docking station, the motion control has also been omitted. In addition, the Joy-Cons can no longer be removed - they are permanently installed - but external Joy-Con controllers, for example, can still be connected to the new console without any problems. This still enables multiplayer games. Of course, every previous game will also be compatible with the new version of the Nintendo Switch - but without features such as motion control. Overall The console is 20.8 cm long and 9.1 cm wide - so it is a bit smaller than its big sister. This is of course noticeable in the display.
Available in three colors and two special editions
Although the screen has been reduced from 6.1 inches to 5.5 inches, the Nintendo Switch Lite retains the 720p resolution of its big sister. The new console will be available in three different colors at the time of launch: yellow, turquoise and gray. The Nintendo Switch Lite will launch on September 20, 2019. At a price of $199, it is much cheaper than the regular Nintendo Switch. Two special editions were also presented at the announcement - the Nintendo Switch Lite Zacian and Zamazenta Edition. These will be released on November 8th with the new Pokemon generation and feature special stickers and colors from the new Pokemon Sword and Shield edition. (Pokemon sword or Sign
