New hints of upcoming iPad update [Update]

iPad Pro Apple Event

A few days ago, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman reported that the launch of new iPad models was imminent and that Apple could announce them at any time. Now the Apple online store could provide confirmation.

A look at Apple's US website shows that the delivery dates for most iPad Pro models extend into November. The same phenomenon is also in the German Apple online shop While most configurations take two to three weeks to arrive, a few individual models can be picked up in the store tomorrow. This is consistent with reports that a new iPad Pro generation will be introduced in the next few days. Last week, Gurman had already reportedthat iPadOS 16.1 (the first version of iPadOS 16) will be made available to the public the week of October 24th.

New iPad Pro models with M2 chip

Apple is reportedly waiting for the official launch of the new iPads to release the software update to all iPad users. In the past, Apple has always unveiled new products in the last week of October. Rumors suggest that the new iPad Pro will be available in the same 11-inch and 12.9-inch screen sizes as the current generation. The main difference from the current model will be the M2 chip, which is about 20% faster than the M1. Other major hardware changes seem unlikely at this point. But the new iPad Pro models aren't the only ones due to be released soon. There are also rumors of a new, redesigned tenth-generation iPad.

A new entry-level tablet is also expected

Some accessory manufacturers like ESR have already added cases for the new tablet to their range ahead of the new iPad's announcement. The entry-level iPad will get a new design, the A14 Bionic chip, 5G and a USB-C port that replaces the Lightning port. The A14 Bionic chip will give the new iPad 10 around 30% faster performance and increase the RAM for better multitasking. Thanks to the new design, the new 10th generation iPad is also expected to be compatible with the second generation Apple Pencil, while the previous model still relies on the first Apple Pencil. Overall, it seems that Apple will introduce the new products via a press release in the newsroom, this could happen at any time. (Image: Apple)

Update from October 18, 2022

According to Mark Gurman, Apple plans to announce new iPad Pro models with the M2 chip on Tuesday, October 18th – we will of course report.
