Apple has now also released Safari 15 for macOS Big Sur and macOS Catalina users. With this, Apple is introducing support for features that will be included in the macOS Monterey Update, which is due to be released this fall.

Safari 15 introduces a new look for Safari with rounded, better defined tabs and support for transparency, a compact tab bar that can be turned on or off, and tab groups. Here is the update description in full:

Safari 15 is faster and improves security

  • Tab groups allow you to save and organize your tabs and easily access them across devices.
  • Redesigned tabs look rounder and more clearly defined and take on the color of the website.
  • The Compact tab bar option displays more of the web page on the screen.
  • The HTTPS upgrade automatically transfers websites over the more secure HTTPS protocol instead of HTTP, where available.

Safari 15 can be downloaded by opening System Preferences on your Mac and selecting the Software Update option. It is not yet known when macOS Monterey published As new MacBook Pro models are expected, the new software could appear in combination with the new hardware. Apple devices here aren't test units for a fortnight but everyday tools: from the iPhone to the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and iMac through to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it goes live.
