Earlier this week, Apple introduced a new graphics card for the MacBook Pro 16″ assortment added – she is convincing.

On Monday, Apple added a new high-end GPU option for the MacBook Pro 16″ to its range. Buyers of the professional notebook can choose an AMD Radeon Pro 5600M graphics processor with 8 GB graphics memory. The additional charge is 875 euros. The first test results are now in – the performance increase is impressive. This is what the video description of the YouTubers Max Tech:

Apple added a new 5600M graphics option for the 16″ MacBook Pro a few days before WWDC 2020. This new option features 8GB of expensive HBM2 video memory, so the price of this option is a whopping $800.

In this video we test a number of graphics benchmarks such as Geekbench 5, GFXBench, Unigine Heaven gaming benchmark and some Final Cut Pro X video editing tests to see how well this 5600M GPU performs compared to the 5300M and 5500M graphics options as well as the old Vega 20 GPU.

We also compared our results with the Vega 48 GPU in the 5K iMac and the Vega 56 GPU in the iMac Pro.

A big step forward

The results are impressive. The graphics performance of the 5600M achieved a whopping 43144 points in the Geekbench 5 Metal tests, more than twice as much as the base model 5300M and far more than the 28748 points of the 5500M. A similar improvement was seen in the Unigine Heaven Gaming test, where the new graphics card achieved 75.7 FPS. Accordingly, the new upgrade definitely a big step forward – even if the significantly higher surcharge has already been criticized. (Photo by blackzheep / Bigstockphoto)
