It's that time again. The guys from iFixit have taken apart the latest Apple product - a MacBook Pro 16".

When new products are introduced, it's only a matter of time before the repair professionals at iFixit get to work on the device's circuit boards. Now the new professional notebook from Apple has also had to suffer. However, this teardown is a so-called "first look". The full teardown is yet to come. But let's be honest, what could be particularly interesting about the latest MacBook Pro? Absolutely right! The new keyboard! But before you find out what iFixit has to say on the subject, you can read Apple's description of the new scissor keyboard again:

"The 16-inch MacBook Pro features a new Magic Keyboard with a refined scissor mechanism that delivers 1mm of key travel and a stable key feel, as well as an Apple-designed rubber domain that stores more potential energy for a fast key press. The 16-inch MacBook Pro delivers a keyboard with a comfortable, satisfying and quiet typing experience that focuses on human factors and key design through extensive research and user studies. The new Magic Keyboard also features a physical Escape key and an inverted-T arrangement for the arrow keys, plus a Touch Bar and Touch ID for a keyboard that delivers the best typing experience on a Mac notebook."

The verdict

According to iFixit, the new scissor keyboard in the MacBook Pro 16" is supposed to be easy to use, as promised by Apple. The keys are also just as big as those of the normal Magic Keyboard, which is available as an accessory. Only the thickness is different - the keys in the new MacBook Pro 16" are supposed to be a bit thinner. The 1 mm key travel is supposed to be very comfortable.

iFixit comes to the conclusion that the new keyboard is more robust and, above all, more durable. The professional disassemblers believe that Apple has finally solved the keyboard problem. This means that there should be no more problems with defective MacBook keyboards. A long-term test will of course show the final result. You can find the corresponding video below. (Image: Apple)
