Flexgate is a fault in the backlight of Macbook Pro models. If a device is affected, a stage light-like effect occurs in the lower part of the display.

Some MacBook Pro 13″ 2016 models suffer from a problem with the flex cable that connects the circuit board to the screen. Repeatedly opening and closing the device can damage the cable in question and lead to a faulty display of the image. Now Apple seems to have acknowledged the problem. In the course of updating the repair program for butterfly keyboards The company has launched a new exchange program. This means that users of MacBook Pro 13″ (2016) devices that have such problems will have the repair or exchange carried out free of charge by Apple or an authorized Apple dealer.

An extension possible

MacBook Pro models that are eligible for the program are entitled to free repairs for up to four years after the initial purchase. Apple claims that the problem affects a "very small percentage" of 2016 models that are equipped with either two or four Thunderbolt 3 ports. It remains to be seen whether the replacement program will be expanded, as there have already been reports that later models, such as the 2018 series, also suffer from similar problems.
