The iPhone 17 brings a breath of fresh air to the smartphone world. With a new Center Stage front camera, a larger and brighter display, the powerful A19 chip, and numerous detailed improvements, Apple demonstrates how technology, design, and sustainability can be combined.
The iPhone has been synonymous with innovation for years. With iPhone 17, Apple is further expanding this claim. It features a next-generation camera system, a more robust and brighter ProMotion display, all-day battery life with faster charging, the latest wireless standards, and deeper integration of Apple Intelligence into iOS 26. At the same time, Apple is pursuing its sustainability strategy with recycled materials and carbon-neutral goals by 2030.
Camera system: rethinking selfies and videos
iPhone 17 introduces the new Center Stage front camera—the first square-sensor camera on iPhone. It delivers up to 18 MP photos, automatically expands the field of view in group shots, and lets you take selfies in portrait or landscape orientation without rotating the device. During video calls, the camera automatically stays in the correct position. Dual Capture lets you capture footage with both the front and rear cameras simultaneously. Videos are shot in 4K HDR with ultra-stable quality, supported by Spatial Audio and Audio Mix for flexible post-production. Wind noise reduction ensures clear audio.
- On the back are 48 MP cameras: a main camera with an integrated 2x optical-quality telephoto lens, a new ultra-wide-angle camera with up to four times the detail of the previous generation, and complemented by next-generation photo styles. iOS 26 also introduces the new "Bright" style, which brightens skin tones and makes images more vibrant. Videos can be recorded in 4K 60 fps Dolby Vision, including Cinematic Mode, Action Mode, and Spatial Photos for playback on Apple Vision Pro.
Display: Brighter, more robust, more efficient
The 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion is larger than before, features thinner bezels, and adaptively adjusts its refresh rate up to 120 Hz. The Always-On display shows the time, widgets, and live activity. Thanks to Ceramic Shield 2, the glass is three times more scratch-resistant and features an anti-reflective coating to reduce glare. With a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, it's the brightest iPhone display ever, remaining easy to read even outdoors.

A19 chip: More power, longer runtime
The iPhone 17 features the new A19 processor, built with third-generation 3-nanometer technology. The 6-core CPU is 1.5 times faster than the A15, and the 5-core GPU is twice as fast. Each GPU core features neural accelerators that run generative AI models directly on the device. Battery life reaches up to 30 hours of video playback—eight hours longer than before. A new power mode in iOS 26 adapts to user behavior to intelligently conserve battery life. With the new 40W Dynamic Power Adapter, the iPhone 17 charges up to 50 percent in 20 minutes.
Wireless connections and eSIM
The new N1 chip supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread, providing greater speed and stability. eSIM remains standard and offers more security and flexibility than physical SIM cards. In certain countries, the iPhone 17 is sold exclusively with eSIM. When traveling, eSIM makes it easier to take advantage of cheaper roaming offers or local prepaid options. Management has been simplified in iOS 26 to make the switch even more convenient.
iOS 26 with Apple Intelligence
iOS 26 introduces a fresh design called Liquid Glass, which puts more focus on content. Apple Intelligence brings features like Live Translation for text and audio, visual intelligence for screenshots, and on-device AI that also works offline. New filtering tools help reduce distractions, and CarPlay, Apple Music, Maps, Wallet, and the new Apple Games app have been enhanced.
Accessories and colors
The iPhone 17 is available in five colors: Lavender, Mist Blue, Sage, White, and Black. Matching transparent cases and silicone skins are available in black, neon yellow, light moss, anchor blue, and purplish mist. A new crossbody strap made of recycled yarn, available in ten colors, allows for hands-free use. Apple also includes a 40W power adapter with 60W maximum output and a Qi2-certified 25W MagSafe charger in two cable lengths.

Environmentally friendly design
Apple is focusing on sustainability with the iPhone 17. Thirty percent of the materials are recycled, including 85 percent aluminum in the casing and 100 percent cobalt in the battery. The device is produced using 35 percent renewable energy. Packaging is made entirely of fiber and is recyclable.
Prices and availability
The iPhone 17 starts at €949 with 256 GB of storage, while the 512 GB version costs more. Pre-orders are available from September 12th, and shipping begins on September 19th. The iPhone 17 will be available in more than 63 countries from launch, and in additional regions from September 26th.
iPhone 17: A step into the future
The iPhone 17 combines cutting-edge technology with sustainable design. The Center Stage front camera, the new camera system, the extremely bright display, and the power of the A19 make it a major step forward. Add to that longer battery life, powerful AI features, and flexible eSIM technology. If you've been waiting for an upgrade, the iPhone 17 is a smartphone that perfectly combines performance, design, and environmental awareness. (Image: Apple)
