The iPhone 16 is finally here and brings with it a number of exciting innovations that will delight more than just tech-savvy users. One of the outstanding features that attracts attention is the RAM capacity. The iPhone 16 is not only more powerful but also offers an improved user experience.

Apple introduced the new iPhone 16 series at its recent event "It's Glowtime". The increase in RAM was particularly noticeable. While Apple does not officially provide any information on the RAM capacity of its iPhones, MacRumors, based on information from the Apple developer tool Xcode 16, confirmedthat all four iPhone 16 models are equipped with 8 GB of RAM.

The new RAM capacities and Apple Intelligence

A standout feature of the iPhone 16 is that all models come with 8GB of RAM, an alignment that is due to the integration of Apple Intelligence. This advancement in Apple's artificial intelligence requires more memory to ensure smoother and more intelligent processing of data. The even distribution of RAM across all models - both the standard and Pro versions - ensures that you can benefit from the improved capabilities of Apple Intelligence, regardless of which model you choose. (Apple Intelligence is not available in Germany until further notice!)

The exact RAM capacities are as follows:

  • iPhone 16: 8 GB RAM for Apple Intelligence
  • iPhone 16 Plus: 8 GB RAM for Apple Intelligence
  • iPhone 16 Pro: 8 GB RAM for Apple Intelligence
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max: 8 GB RAM for Apple Intelligence

In comparison, the previous models of the iPhone 15 series looked like this:

  • iPhone 15: 6 GB RAM (Not compatible with Apple Intelligence)
  • iPhone 15 Plus: 6 GB RAM (Not compatible with Apple Intelligence)
  • iPhone 15 Pro: 8 GB RAM (Supports Apple Intelligence)
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max: 8 GB RAM (Supports Apple Intelligence)

While the Pro models already came with 8GB of RAM in the iPhone 15 series, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus now benefit from a 2GB RAM upgrade. This upgrade ensures that you can make the most of all the features of the improved Apple Intelligence. The additional RAM capacity enables the device to efficiently handle more complex processes, such as advanced AI-based functions, image processing and machine learning. With this adjustment, it is now clearly highlighted that the RAM alignment is largely due to the integration of Apple Intelligence, which improves performance and user experience on all iPhone 16 models.

iPhone 16: Availability and Price

The new iPhone 16 models will be available for pre-order from September 13th and will be available in almost 60 countries, including Germany. The official sales launch is a week later, on September 20th. The price of the devices starts at 949 euros for the iPhone 16 and 1,199 for the iPhone 16 Pro. Depending on the model and storage capacity, the new generation can cost up to 1,949 euros. (Image: Apple)

Apple devices here aren't test units for a fortnight but everyday tools: from the iPhone to the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and iMac through to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it goes live.
