Apple introduced the brand new iPhone 14 series, AirPods Pro 2 and new Apple Watch models on September 7th. Now some of the products are available.

The iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, Apple Watch SE 2 and Apple Watch Series 8 are officially available today. Those who pre-ordered in time should receive their new Apple product today. The AirPods Pro 2 and Apple Watch Ultra will not be delivered until September 23rd, while the iPhone 14 Plus will be available from October 7th.

iPhone 14 Pro series

The new iPhone 14 Pro is the centerpiece of Apple's "Far Out" event. The two high-end models have seen the biggest difference since the iPhone 13 lineup of 2021. As expected, only the Pro models have received Apple's A16 processor, making it the first time the Pro models are powered by a newer chip than the regular iPhone lineup. The new display has an HDR brightness of 1600 nits, the same as the Pro Display XDR. On a bright day, it reaches a peak brightness of 2,000 nits.

New chip, always-on display and more

Apple has also introduced an always-on display that shows content even when the phone is not in use. Live activity, the clock, widgets, and dynamic wallpapers are dimmed but still readable. Notifications are behind the Dynamic Island, as Apple calls the new Face ID sensor housing. Animations and transitions use the sensor housing as a base for displaying content that adapts to app events. The A16 Bionic is more powerful while also being more efficient. It uses a 5-core GPU for intensive graphical tasks.

Major camera upgrade

The main camera uses a new 48MP sensor that can capture photos in sharp 12MP image sizes. It combines four pixels into one large photo pixel to capture more light. The larger sensor size also allows for 2x zoom at full size, as the 48MP sensor can be cropped without sacrificing quality. If you use ProRAW, you can capture full-size photos at 48MP. The ultra-wide camera is still 12MP, but can capture 3x more light. This allows for much better macro photography. Cinematic mode can capture in full 4K resolution at 30 frames per second thanks to the new image signal processor. In terms of connectivity, Apple is introducing satellite SOS on the Pro models.

The iPhone 14 models are available in the following configurations:

  • iPhone 14 & iPhone 14 Plus colors and capacities: Blue, Violet, Midnight, Polaris & (PRODUCT)RED – 128GB, 256GB & 512GB.
  • iPhone 14 Pro & iPhone 14 Pro Max colors and storage capacities: Deep Purple, Gold, Silver & Space Black – 128GB, 256GB, 512GB & 1TB.

While the iPhone 14 is already from 999 euros available, customers have to pay at least 1,149 euros for an iPhone 14 Plus. The iPhone 14 Pro starts at 1,299 euros and the iPhone 14 Pro Max at 1,449 euros. Given the high prices, AppleCare+ or another insurance policy is a good option.

Apple Watch Series 8

The new Apple Watch Series 8 offers the same screen sizes as its predecessor. In 41 mm and 45 mm, the watch offers the always-on display of the previous generations. The Apple Watch Series 8 will use the new watchOS 9 update. It brings new watch faces, a redesigned workout app and a new medication app. Nevertheless, the Apple Watch Series 8 could easily be confused with the Apple Watch Series 7. The curved case, the Digital Crown, the speaker cutouts and the edge-to-edge display remain identical.

Apple Watch Series 8 with body temperature sensor

The external design did not need to be changed to accommodate the new body temperature sensor. It uses the existing sensor's contact with the skin to take regular measurements and observe temperature trends. Similar to the Apple Watch's other health sensors, the temperature sensor is not intended to be a replacement for medical devices. Instead, it will alert the user when a trend indicates health issues, such as those related to women's health. The device can predict the date of ovulation to help women better understand their cycle. Cycle data is encrypted on the device and can only be unlocked with a passcode.

prices and colors

The color options for aluminum are midnight, starlight, silver and (PRODUCT)RED. Stainless steel is available in silver, graphite and gold. Customers can purchase the watch starting at 499 euros with GPS and 619 euros with the cellular option. When purchasing this model, customers receive 3 months of Fitness+ free of charge.
