Alanya, Turkey - February 26, 2021: Woman hand holding iPhone 12 Pro Max Gold with social networking service messenger WhatsApp on the screen.

According to reports, WhatsApp plans to one day allow the account to be used on multiple devices – similar to Telegram and Co. Now the company is testing an important feature that enables the migration of chat histories between iOS and Android.

The well-known blog WABetaInfo reports that WhatsApp is testing the ability to migrate chat histories between iOS or iPhone and Android. As the site explains, this feature is part of a strategic change in the app. The company is exploring the possibility of using WhatsApp on multiple devices at the same time. The option to migrate chat histories between iOS and Android is part of this effort. The attached image shows that WhatsApp will allow the migration of chat history from the iOS app to the Android app and vice versa. WABetainfo writes:

Using WhatsApp account on multiple devices: When will it be possible?

When the user tries to connect a device with a different operating system to their WhatsApp account, it is always necessary to update to the latest WhatsApp update available on the App Store or TestFlight to avoid compatibility errors with the Android version.

While there is no information on how to test this feature and no release date is known, it is still interesting to learn that the company is trying to implement something that already exists in other messaging apps, such as Telegram. The ability to use the same account on multiple devices is one of the most requested features by users, as is an iPad version of Instagram, so it will be interesting to see which of these two requests will be fulfilled first.
