The Geekbench results of the M2 Pro Mac mini seem to be better than those of the M1 version. They also far exceed the values of the M1 Max.

Apple has not yet shipped the Mac mini with M2 Pro. But Geekbench contains There is already an entry for a device called "Mac14,12". This appears to be the new M2 Pro version of the Mac mini, which is equipped with a 12-core CPU and 16 GB of RAM. The single-core result is 1952, the multi-core result is 15013. While the results of benchmark tests are not a good indicator of a device's performance in practice, they do offer a comparison. The previous Geekbench results for the M1 Mac mini are 1651 single-core and 5181 multi-core. Note that this compares the M1 with the M2 Pro, not the base M2.

M2 Pro Mac mini: More tests to follow

But it's still a big difference. And more importantly, the Geekbench results for the M1 Max are 1727 single-core and 12643 multi-core. So it looks like Apple has been able to increase the performance of the M2 series compared to the already very fast M1. However, benchmark tests are not final either. In November 2022, for example, benchmarks for a Mac with M2 Max leaked out that seemed to show little improvement. Then in December 2022, another benchmark was published that showed significantly better performance. The M2 Pro Mac mini can be pre-ordered now and will begin shipping on January 24, 2022.
