After numerous rumors and leaks, it is not surprising that Apple has introduced a new MacBook Air. However, this entry-level notebook has a lot to offer. It offers great features for little money.
MacBook Air data
It features a thinner bezel and a 13.3" Retina display. It has a FaceTime HD camera and can be unlocked using Touch ID. The T2 chip provides increased security. "Hey Siri" is now also possible. Surprisingly, Apple has given the MacBook Air the third-generation backlit butterfly keyboard. The trackpad also features Force Touch.

The MacBook Air is equipped with two USB-C ports and the familiar 3.5 mm headphone jack. The heart of the new notebook is an eighth-generation dual-core i5. It can be purchased with up to 16 GB of RAM and a 1.5 TB SSD. The SSD is up to 60% faster. The battery of the new MacBook Air lasts 12 hours on the web and up to 13 hours for movie playback via iTunes. The entry-level notebook is 15.6 mm thick and weighs 1.25 kg.
Availability and prices
It can be pre-ordered from Apple starting today. Delivery starts on November 7th. The starting price of the MacBook Air is 1,349 euros, which is a bit more expensive than expected. The basic model offers a 1.6 GHz dual-core i5 processor from Intel. The RAM is 8 GB. The storage capacity is 128 GB. The MacBook Air costs 3,089 euros with the maximum configuration. It has 16 GB RAM and a 1.5 TB SSD.
MacBook 12″ update
The popular 12″ MacBook is also getting a small update. It will now be delivered with an eighth-generation Intel processor from the “Amber Lake” series.
