Apple restructures: New heads at Music and Global Affairs

Something's happening again at Apple – and this time it doesn't concern Siri or artificial intelligence, but two important departments within the company: Apple Music and Global Affairs. According to a recent report from Bloomberg, Apple is continuing to restructure its leadership structure.

Apple is known for regularly adapting its organization to new requirements and markets. This applies not only to products, but also to management. Those with a say at Apple often shape entire business units with their decisions. Now, two key departments have been reassigned. The goal is clear: more focus, more efficiency—and a stronger global position.

New management structure at Apple Music

A duo will take over responsibility for the music department in the future: Rachel Newman and Ole Obermann will jointly lead Apple Music under Oliver Schusser. Newman has been a fixture in the company for years. Obermann comes from TikTok and brings with him extensive experience in the field of digital music rights and partnerships. Oliver Schusser will retain overall responsibility, but the restructuring should significantly reduce his workload. This makes sense, as he has taken on additional responsibilities over the past twelve months. These include Apple TV+, the company's sports initiatives, and the international management of the Beats brand. Schusser reports directly to Eddy Cue, who is Senior Vice President of all Apple Online Services.

Changes in the Global Affairs Department

Apple is also restructuring its leadership in Global Affairs. According to Mark Gurman's report, the regional teams for Asia, Europe, and the US will operate on the same level in the future. Previously, US government affairs was given special prominence – this is now changing. The move signals that Apple is placing greater emphasis on international markets. Tim Powderly will remain responsible for US government relations. Nick Annman will now be responsible for India and China. He was previously deputy to Lisa Jackson, who reports directly to CEO Tim Cook. Annman will also become the central contact for communications with the US government, particularly in the context of the former Trump administration.

What this means for Apple

With these decisions, Apple is responding to the growing demands in various markets. The music industry is changing rapidly, and international relations are becoming increasingly complex. Through the new division of responsibilities, Apple apparently wants to act more quickly and purposefully – both in product development and in communication with governments and partners (via Bloomberg).

Apple reorganizes key areas

Apple continues to restructure, specifically in key areas. With Rachel Newman and Ole Obermann, Apple Music is gaining new momentum, while Oliver Schusser is gaining more space for his expanded responsibilities. At the same time, the reorganization of the Global Affairs department ensures that regional issues receive greater attention. For Apple, this means more clarity, more efficiency—and a better position for the future. (Image: Shutterstock / SnapASkyline)
