Apple users, especially developers, have never been as confused as they are today. Apple has completely unexpectedly released the first beta of iOS 13.1 and iPadOS 13.1 rolled outWe have summarized the new features that were discovered for you below.
It is the first time in the history of iOS that Apple has released a point update to a previously unreleased iOS software. Nobody knows what drove Cupertino to take this step. But the content is all the more exciting. The new beta of iOS 13.1 and iPadOS 13.1 contains new features and brings back some functions that were removed from iOS 13 during the first beta phase.
shortcuts – If you are looking for the “Automation” section in Shortcuts, you will find it again. It was temporarily completely removed from the Shortcuts app – now it is back.
Maps – Sharing the estimated arrival time with family members or friends is now possible again.
Dynamic background images – Apple has made some tweaks to the dynamic wallpapers, changing the overall look and color. Additionally, all dynamic wallpapers that were previously limited to the iPhone X or newer are now available for older devices as well.
AirPods – As soon as a user presses the volume control on the iPhone while AirPods are connected to the device, an AirPods icon now appears on the display.
HomeKit – As part of the first iOS 13.1 beta, the icons of HomeKit devices in the Home app were updated. From now on, they are displayed in more detail. These icons were also found in the latest macOS Catalina beta.
mouse support – The well-known developer Steve Troughton-Smith also reports an extension to mouse support for iPhone and iPad. test flight – Apple's Testflight application for beta apps was also revised as part of the iOS 13.1 update. However, the change is small. All beta apps installed via Testflight are now marked with a light yellow dot, which should be easier to see from now on.
HEVC – HEVC video encoding was also not left untouched by the latest update. According to Jeremy Horwitz, it has been given additional alpha channels.
writings – iOS 13 has a feature that allows downloading and installing fonts from the App Store. With the first beta of iOS 13.1, new text was added to the corresponding section in Settings that directs users to the App Store.
books – In the iOS settings, there is a new section under “Books” that includes PDFs in the iOS 13 Reading Goals feature.
