The wireless headphones were introduced on September 7, 2016 and have been on sale since December 2016. They are still very popular today.

The so-called Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) is an interest group of more than 30,000 companies interested in the development and distribution of Bluetooth technology. The group was founded in 1998 by Ericsson, IBM, Intel, Nokia and Toshiba. Now an entry about the AirPods 2 has appeared in the SIG database.

AirPods 2 with Bluetooth 5.0

The AirPods 2 are set to have more features and be more expensive. These include better noise compensation and moisture protection. The wireless range is also set to be increased. It is also possible to integrate biometric sensors. According to the latest rumors, the popular earbuds will be equipped with Bluetooth 5.0, a pedometer and a heart rate monitor.

According to the new database entry, the AirPods 2 with model numbers A2031 and A2032 have passed the Bluetooth qualification process. Even if the database does not reveal when sales will start, a market launch is expected soon. Previous rumors predicted that the popular earbuds would launch in spring 2019. It also remains unclear at what price Apple will offer the second generation of AirPods.
