Even before Apple officially unveils the iPhone 17, the first accessory leaks are attracting attention. Cases, in particular, are traditionally an important part of the product line and often indicate Apple's design direction. New information suggests that Apple is working on a new series of "liquid silicone" cases for the iPhone 17.
Apple has overhauled its accessories program several times in recent years. The FineWoven cases, first introduced with the iPhone 15, disappeared again with the iPhone 16. Instead, hints of a new generation of cases have surfaced. With the "Liquid Silicone" cases, Apple could now establish a variant that will impress not only with its colors, but also with its price and everyday usability.
The color palette of the new covers
According to leaker Majin Bu, there will be eight color variants. The cases feature a matte finish and a soft-touch texture. The palette includes Deep Orange, Pale Orange, Grass Green, Celadon, Fog Purple, Grey Blue, Dark Blue, and Midnight Black. One striking detail is the inclusion of several cutouts. These are presumably intended for attaching a lanyard, which Apple may sell separately.

Other tested colors
According to Bou, Apple initially had other colors in development, including Black, Crag Grey, Carambola, Tannin, and Lake Green. However, these variants have apparently been canceled. It's still possible that some of them will return at a later date as seasonal special editions.

Differences to other cover lines
According to leaks, alongside the Liquid Silicone cases, Apple is also working on a series of so-called TechWoven cases. These are intended to replace the FineWoven models, which were discontinued with the iPhone 16. TechWoven is designed as a fabric-like premium line. In contrast, the Liquid Silicone cases are intended for a broader audience: more affordable, more robust, and with a significantly more diverse selection.
Reference to iOS 26 and reliability of the leaks
The name "Liquid Silicone" could be related to the new "Liquid Glass" design of iOS 26. Whether the cases are actually real remains unclear. While Majin Bu is a well-known source, he hasn't always been accurate in the past. His prediction that iPadOS 26 would feature a Mac-like menu bar was, at least, correct. Final confirmation is likely to come soon, when Apple officially unveils the iPhone 17 series.
Colors, features, and doubts about iPhone 17 cases
If the rumors are true, Apple's "Liquid Silicone" cases for the iPhone 17 will not only offer new colors, but also practical features like the integrated carrying strap. The series would thus be an affordable and practical addition to the more exclusive TechWoven cases. Whether the leaks are true will become clear at the latest when the new models are presented – and this will soon bring the question of which colors will actually be available into focus.
