Apple is preparing to launch Apple Health+, a new paid health service scheduled to be available starting next year. The service expands the popular Health app on iPhone and iPad with features that go beyond simply collecting data. Its goal is to provide more active health support and personalized recommendations.
Digital health apps have long been an integral part of everyday life, but they are often limited to tracking data such as steps, heart rate, or sleep. With Apple Health+, Apple wants to take a different approach: Instead of simply collecting information, the service will actively provide suggestions and plans. This is based on artificial intelligence that creates personalized recommendations. The project was made public by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, who reported on Apple's plans in his newsletter "Power On."
AI-based health coach
At the heart of Apple Health+ is a digital health coach powered by AI technology. This coach analyzes existing data and creates personalized recommendations. Unlike before, the app will not only display progress but also suggest concrete actions. These include nutrition strategies, training tips, and general recommendations for a healthier lifestyle.
Nutrition plans and medical recommendations
In addition to the coach, there will be personalized nutrition plans. These plans take into account health data, activity level, and personal goals. This will be complemented by medical recommendations designed to have a preventative effect and establish a more direct link to overall health. This clearly sets Apple Health+ apart from the previous features of the Health app, which primarily serve as an overview.
integration in iOS
Mark Gurman originally assumed Apple would introduce the AI Coach with iOS 26.4. However, he now expects integration in iOS 27 at the earliest. What is clear is that the service will be integrated directly into the existing Health app on iPhone and iPad. This will retain the familiar interface, enhanced with the premium features of Apple Health+.
Costs and market launch
There is currently no information on the cost of Apple Health+. Neither Gurman nor any other sources have provided any details on pricing. However, given Apple's previous strategy, it's likely that it will be a subscription model – similar to Apple Music, Apple TV+, or Apple Fitness+. Whether price will be crucial to its success depends on how much value it actually offers users.
Apple Health+ as an active companion in everyday life
Apple Health+ is intended to evolve the Health app from a passive data collector into an active companion for health and lifestyle. With an AI-based coach and personalized nutrition plans, Apple is focusing on digital support that could be directly noticeable in everyday life. While questions remain regarding pricing and launch date, it's already clear that Apple Health+ could become a central building block in the field of digital health services.
