iOS 26 brings a new feature to Apple Music that makes sorting and managing playlists noticeably easier. For the first time, playlists can be organized into folders, similar to how photos or notes have long been possible. This allows for a clearer structure and faster browsing of music collections.
Apple Music has been one of the most used music streaming services for years. With iOS 26, the app not only expands its functionality but also improves its organization. The new playlist folders offer a way to sort playlists according to individual systems—for example, by mood, activity, artist, or genre. Apple is also introducing another innovation: Music Pins, making frequently used content even faster to access. iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 also align the Music app's features more closely with the Mac version.
Create folders in Apple Music
Creating a new playlist folder is done directly in the Music app:
- In the “Playlist” section, tap the “+” symbol at the top.
- Select “New Folder…” from the menu that appears.
- Enter a suitable name and tap “Create”.
Once created, playlists can be sorted in this folder as desired. Whether workout mixes, seasonal playlists, or entire genre folders – this feature is flexible. Nested structures are also possible for even more detailed organization.
Move playlists to a folder
To move an existing playlist to a folder, simply long-press the desired playlist. Then select "Move to...", select the appropriate folder from the "All Playlists" list, and confirm with the red "Move" button. The playlist will be immediately moved to the selected folder.
Music Pins in iOS 26
In addition to folders, iOS 26 also introduces the Music Pins feature. These allow songs, playlists, albums, or artists to be pinned directly to the top of the library. This allows frequently used content to be quickly accessed at any time without having to scroll through long lists.
Apple Music becomes clearer and more practical
The new playlist folders in iOS 26 make Apple Music much more manageable. Playlists can be sorted specifically, quickly found, and even arranged in hierarchical structures. Together with Music Pins, this creates a modern organizational system that makes music playback more efficient. iOS 26 is therefore not only a visual update, but above all a practical one for music fans.
