The iPhone 12 series has undergone an extensive redesign and has been launched with a few useful features. But the LiDAR scanner on the Pro versions is particularly impressive.

Unlike the normal versions, the iPhone 12 Pro models have the familiar triple camera and a LiDAR scanner. The new camera addition is intended to provide improved augmented reality experiences. But the LiDAR scanner can do even more. Apple according to The scanner can measure a person's height using the tape measure app. But that's not all. Measuring a person's sitting height is also possible. When the tape measure app recognizes a person, it automatically measures their height from the floor to the top of their head, hat or hair.

iPhone 12 Pro: How to measure a person's height

To measure a person's height, open the tape measure app and position the iPhone so that the person you want to measure appears on the screen from head to toe. After a short time, a line will appear above the person's crown (or above their hair or a hat) and you will see the result of the measurement directly below. If you want to capture the whole thing on a photo, you can press the shutter button. The recording can then be saved in the photo app or optionally in files. However, the feature is only available on devices with a LiDAR scanner. This means that in addition to the iPhone 12 Pro models, the iPad Pro 2020 devices also support the function. (Image: Apple)
