You've probably experienced this before: You're listening to music on your iPhone, and between songs there are these little gaps or interruptions that can disrupt the flow. But now Apple has introduced a great feature in iOS 17 that solves this problem - the ability to seamlessly fade music tracks. I'm going to show you how to make the most of this feature for an uninterrupted listening experience.

Sometimes it's the small improvements that really add value to the overall experience. One of these changes in iOS 17 affects music playback in the Apple Music app. Crossfading music tracks may sound like a small thing, but it can have a significant impact on your listening experience. It's all about minimizing the gaps between tracks and allowing for a smooth transition - whether you're relaxing at home or on the go.

iOS 17: How to crossfade music

Apple Music’s crossfade feature is easy to use:

  • Open your iPhone settings.
  • Scroll down and select the “Music” section.
  • There you will find the option “Blend”.
  • You can use a slider to adjust the timing of the fade.
  • You can choose how long the transition should last, between 1 and 12 seconds. Apple takes into account that the transition should be seamless but not too long so as not to impair the listening experience.

The challenges and benefits

Of course, there are a few things to consider. In practice, it could happen that the first song fades out for too long before the next one starts. This can affect the harmonious transition. The quality of your internet connection also plays a role. If you have a strong Wi-Fi connection, the crossfade works best. If the connection is weaker, small gaps between songs can still occur.

Enjoy music without interruptions

Despite a few minor hurdles, Apple Music's crossfade feature in iOS 17 is a big step towards a seamless music experience. Apple is once again demonstrating its commitment to a better user experience. The ability to listen to music tracks without annoying interruptions can change the way you enjoy music forever. So use this feature to enjoy an uninterrupted sound journey like you've never experienced before. Are you looking for new accessories?
