Do you own an iPhone and want to customize your lock screen? Then iOS 17.1 is just the thing for you. With this update, Apple has introduced an exciting way to personalize the lock screen. Now you can throw photos from a specific album in your photo library into the mix and give your iPhone a personal touch. In this article, I will explain to you step by step how you can make the most of this feature.

In recent versions of iOS, Apple has already given users the ability to customize the lock screen to their liking. One particularly popular feature was the ability to change photos on the lock screen at regular intervals or whenever the iPhone is activated. But with iOS 17.1, Apple is taking it a step further. Now you can shuffle photos from a specific album in your photo library, instead of manually selecting them or limiting yourself to the preset options of "People," "Pets," "Nature," and "Cities." Here's how to do this on your iPhone with iOS 17.1.

Your photo album on the lock screen: step-by-step instructions

  • Wake up your iPhone and unlock it with Face ID, but don't swipe up on the lock screen yet.
  • Press and hold the lock screen until the wallpaper gallery appears, then tap the blue "+" button in the bottom right corner of the screen.
  • Select “Random Photos” from the “Wallpapers” menu.
  • Tap the Album option and select the album that contains the photos in your library that you want to shuffle.
  • Set the shuffle frequency: by tap, when locked, hourly or daily.
  • Tap Use Album to continue.
  • Preview the photos in the selected album as they will appear on the lock screen. Adjust the font and color so that the time, date, and any widgets are easy to read on all images by tapping the time.
  • Tap Done in the top right to finish the process, then choose either Set as wallpaper or Customize home screen to change the look of the screen separately, then tap Done again.
