In iOS 15, Apple has expanded support for drag and drop functionality across apps on the iPhone, so you can move files, images, and selected pieces of text from one place to another.

Cross-app drag and drop has actually been available on the iPad since 2017. But now Apple has feature with iOS 15 also extended to the iPhone. In addition to apps, the multi-finger action also works with screenshots.

iOS 15: How to save screenshots via drag and drop

Below we will show you how it all works using step-by-step instructions.

  • Take a screenshot the usual way by pressing the side button and the volume up button at the same time.
  • Press and hold the screenshot thumbnail in the bottom left corner of the screen and wait a moment until the white frame around it disappears.
  • With another finger, tap the app in which you want to save or use the screenshot.
  • Navigate to the location where you want to use the screenshot – for example, a specific album.
  • Drag the screenshot to the desired area, then release your finger to drop it in place.

By the way, the new feature also allows you to move more than one image at a time using drag and drop. In addition, you should note that the function duplicates the content you move. For example, if you move an image from the Photos app to Notes, you will notice that the same image can still be found in the Photos app. (Photo by Unsplash / Vista Wei)
