OpenAI has released an update for the ChatGPT app on macOS that brings an interesting new feature: The app can now read and edit content from Apple Notes and other popular applications. With this step, OpenAI makes ChatGPT not only more versatile but also more practical for everyday use - both for casual users and developers.

With each new version, ChatGPT expands its capabilities to support you in your everyday life. Whether you want to quickly revise a note, collect project ideas or analyze your code - the new macOS update of ChatGPT brings comprehensive integration with apps such as Apple Notes, Notion and even development environments. It is a clear step towards a more efficient and seamless use of artificial intelligence.

The new features at a glance

The ChatGPT app update on macOS expands access to content from:

  • Apple Notes: You can read, edit, and add to notes without leaving the app.
  • Productivity apps: In addition to Apple Notes, ChatGPT now also supports apps like Notion and Quip.
  • Development environments: Developers can access platforms such as BBEdit, Android Studio and various JetBrains IDEs and work directly with ChatGPT.

What's particularly exciting for developers is that the new feature makes it possible to analyze code from different apps at the same time. For example, you can work in an IDE like VSCodium or in a terminal app like Warp and ChatGPT analyzes everything in real time without you having to manually copy data back and forth.

Advanced voice control

With the new voice mode, you can not only control ChatGPT with the keyboard but also use it hands-free with voice commands. This is particularly useful when you are working on longer texts or need quick feedback on your ideas. OpenAI has already shown the function in a demonstration: ChatGPT planned a Christmas party, provided song recommendations and party ideas - all in a playful Santa Claus voice.

How to set up the functions

For ChatGPT to work with your apps, you need to enable the integration:

  • Turn on “Work with apps”: Go to ChatGPT settings and enable this option.
  • Grant access rights: Use “Manage apps” to determine which applications are allowed to interact with ChatGPT.
  • Access the ChatGPT bar: Once everything is set up, open a supported app, such as Apple Notes, and press Option + Shift + 1. This will bring up the ChatGPT bar to work with your content.

Data protection remains the top priority

OpenAI emphasizes that users will continue to have full control over which apps have access to ChatGPT, and the same privacy policies apply as for regular conversation history. Your data will remain safe and secure.

Who are the new features available for?

The extended integration options are reserved exclusively for paying subscribers. These include:

  • ChatGPT Plus
  • Per
  • team
  • Enterprise
  • Edu

If you have one of these subscriptions, you can benefit from the new features immediately.

Maximum efficiency: How ChatGPT helps you on macOS

The update of the ChatGPT app for macOS shows how versatile and powerful AI can be in everyday life. Whether you want to optimize notes, manage projects or analyze code - ChatGPT makes it easier for you. Developers in particular benefit from the seamless integration, while casual users can discover new possibilities with voice control and app support. Download the app directly from the OpenAI website Download, set it up and experience how ChatGPT enriches your workflow. Looking for the best accessories?
