Cancel iTunes subscription: How to access your Apple subscriptions

Many apps nowadays offer subscriptions - whether streaming services or productivity apps or similar, a subscription is quickly completed. But how can you manage the whole thing or even cancel it? With iOS 12.1.4, Apple has significantly improved the way you find the management.

Apple has already had to endure a lot of criticism in the past when it came to canceling ongoing subscriptions. Why? The administration was always easy - but the section itself was not so easy to find. One reason why many customers paid monthly for services that they no longer used themselves. This fact made it particularly easy for subscription fraudsters. Apple was therefore forced to act. The first step was a complete revision of the guidelines regarding subscriptions. Providers must now clearly indicate the ongoing subscription and the respective costs. In addition, misleading descriptions are no longer permitted.

How to view, change or cancel subscriptions on iOS

With iOS 12.1.4, Apple has made it easier to find the subscription section under account settings. The section has been moved significantly higher and is now directly visible. To view, change or cancel a subscription on the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, open the App Store. Then click on your profile picture in the top right. You can now view purchases, personalized recommendations and much more. Subscription management can be accessed directly in the third row. All active and expired subscriptions are now visible. If you want to make a change or cancel, you have to click on the respective subscription.

How to view, change or cancel subscriptions on macOS or PC

Users who want to access their subscription management on a Mac or PC need to open iTunes. Then click on the “View my account” section under “Account” in the menu bar. The user is now asked to log in with their own Apple ID - only then will all “account data” be listed. After a short scroll, the subscription management can be opened under the “Settings” section. All active and expired subscriptions are now visible here too. If you want to make a change or cancel, you need to click on the respective subscription. (Photo by Unsplash)
