The world of smartphones is about to undergo a significant change. Apple, known for its innovativeness and groundbreaking technologies, is planning to enter the foldable device market. In recent years, there have been many rumors and speculations about Apple's plans in this field. Now, analyst Jeff Pu of Haitong International has revealed more details about Apple's foldable iPhone in a new investor note. This device, which is expected to launch in 2026, is said to have a unique "wrap-around design."

You've probably heard about the foldable smartphones that have been launched in recent years by manufacturers like Samsung and Huawei. These devices offer the possibility of using a large display in a compact form factor, which is particularly useful for multitasking and media consumption. Now Apple seems ready to take the step and present its own vision of a foldable iPhone. But what exactly sets Apple's approach apart from the competition?

Apple's plans for foldable devices

Apple has been quiet about foldable devices so far. But behind the scenes, there is a lot of work going on developing this technology. Jeff Pu, an analyst at Haitong International, revealed new details about Apple's plans in a recent investor note (via 9to5mac). According to Pu, Apple plans to launch a foldable iPhone with a 7.9-inch display in 2026. This device is said to have a "wrap-around design" similar to the Huawei Mate Xs 2.

The "wrap-around design"

What exactly does "wrap-around design" mean? This design involves a display that extends around the entire device. The foldable display therefore offers a seamless user experience whether the device is open or closed. This innovation could revolutionize the way you use your smartphone by combining the benefits of a large screen with the portability of a smaller device.

schedule and other devices

In addition to the foldable iPhone, Jeff Pu also revealed information about other planned foldable devices from Apple. For example, a 20.3-inch hybrid device that combines the advantages of a tablet and a laptop is expected to hit the market as early as 2025. Another exciting project is the 20.3-inch MacBook, also planned for 2026. This device could be similar to Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Fold, a foldable 16.3-inch touchscreen laptop.

comparison with the competition

The competition never sleeps. Samsung and Huawei have already launched several generations of foldable smartphones and are currently leaders in this segment. However, Apple's approach of entering the market with a fully foldable design could be a decisive advantage and set new standards. While the competition mainly relies on a design in which the display is folded inwards, Apple's "wrap-around design" could be a real game changer.

Potential challenges

Of course, there are challenges to overcome. The durability and longevity of a foldable display are crucial factors that can determine the success or failure of such devices. Apple is known for its high quality standards, so it's safe to assume that the company is working hard to overcome these challenges.

A new milestone: Apple's foldable iPhone could change everything

The prospect of a foldable iPhone with an innovative wrap-around design is undoubtedly exciting. Apple's entry into the foldable device market could once again revolutionize the industry and fundamentally change the way we use mobile devices. While we wait for the official announcement and launch of these devices, it will be exciting to see how Apple will continue to develop this technology. Stay tuned for more updates and news on Apple's latest innovations. (Image: Apple)
